Some exceptional rarities are on offer at the auction in Hershey. Most of the offerings are pre-war vehicles of American provenance.
Electric cars on the upswing
Electric vehicles were an alternative to combustion engines from the turn of the 19th century until the 1930s. Now they have been enjoying great popularity at auctions for some time.
Three of them will be auctioned in Hershey: a Milburn Electric Model 15 Light Coupe (1915), a Rauch & Lang JX-6 Dual Control Electric Coach (1916) and a Rauch & Lang Electric Coupe (1909).
Even without a combustion engine
Alternative drives are also available in the steam-powered cars from White, Dos-à-Dos and Grout. The estimated prices here are between USD 30,000 and 40,000.
There are also vehicles from Stanley, most of which were also steam-powered.
The exception
It is surprising that no Bentley is on offer - perhaps no collector wants to part with their vehicle on the brand's 100th birthday? However, if you want to buy a vehicle from the British Isles, you can go for one of the five Rolls-Royces on offer, for example.
Special vehicles
A Model AA Ford truck (1929), built as a popcorn and peanut sales van, is rarely offered even at the big auctions.
The estimated price for the White "Mountain Bus" (1919), which was used in national parks in the west of the USA for tourist transportation, is USD 50,000 to 75,000.
Also not often found is the Cadillac V-16 Convertible "Woodie" Convertible Coupe (1931) on offer. Cadillac installed a 16-cylinder engine for the first time, which had previously only been available from Bugatti.
With the Sport Phaeton and the Seven Passenger Limousine, two other Cadillacs in the auction have the V16 engine.
Exceptional eye-catcher
The most recent vehicle to be auctioned is from 1970. When browsing through the lots, one first suspects a spelling mistake in the year of manufacture. At first glance, the Ruger Sports Tourer Prototype looks like a Bentley from the 1930s. In fact, however, it is a prototype with a body based on the cars of the time. The Ruger is built on a modern chassis and propulsion is provided by a Ford 427 cui engine, as used in the Cobra, for example. When accelerating and overtaking, it is likely to cause some astonished faces.
