Summary
Bonhams auctioned 105 cars (and one GTA engine) on Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Chichester as part of the Goodwood Member Meeting in freezing temperatures. Those responsible were less satisfied with the sales rate than with the sometimes surprisingly high price level when comparing the highest bids with the estimated prices. While some super classics were left standing, some exotic vehicles were the subject of fierce bidding wars. This auction article reflects the mood on site, analyzes the results and shows all the vehicles in pictures.

Preview (beginning of the article)
Bonhams offered 105 cars (and one GTA engine) on Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Chichester as part of the Goodwood Member Meeting. While the four- to eight-cylinder engines of the eighties touring cars were started outside in freezing temperatures for the upcoming race, James Knight lifted the hammer from 14:00 local time to auction off lots worth around £8 million (EUR 8.9 million, CHF 10.4 million). The fact that only £ 3.6 million (EUR 4 million, CHF 4.7 million) was sold in the end had less to do with the bidders' unwillingness to bid than with the fact that the expensive vehicles in particular did not reach their reserve prices. In fact, only three of the ten most valuable cars could be sold. In addition, three vehicles worth almost £1 million had already been withdrawn before the auction.
