226 vehicles, including a motorcycle, were registered for the Silverstone Classic online auction on July 31 and August 1, 2020. The value of the classic cars with an average age of 40 years was estimated in advance at almost £22 million. The bidders eagerly participated, so that 73% of the vehicles were sold and £ 15.4 million was realized. The bids were surprisingly close to the median estimate, averaging almost 90%. The specialists from Silverstone Auctions took two days to place 226 vehicles, including a motorcycle, into new hands on July 31 and August 1, 2020. The auction was conducted in the same way as it would be with an audience, except that the only spectator was a camera that transmitted the auctioneer to the bidders' homes. This worked quite well and the results were much better than some industry observers would have expected. The value of the 226 classics (225 cars and one motorcycle) had been estimated in advance at almost £22 million. In the end, £15.4 million was realized. 73% of all vehicles were sold, 61 of which were left standing. On average, almost 90% of the median estimate was bid across the board, with bids on the first day coming closer to the estimate at almost 91% than on Saturday at 89%.
