Summary
Ford already had good sales figures in England at the beginning of the 1920s. The sale of US cars in Europe was therefore very lucrative. So the decision was made to open another production facility in Germany. Initially, cars were built in Berlin, but from the 1930s onwards, passenger cars were manufactured in Cologne. This article summarizes the beginnings of Ford in Germany with many historical pictures.

Over ten million Tin Lizzies were already on the roads around the world when the Ford Motor Company decided to set up a factory in Germany. Sales of considerable quantities of faithful T-models in England, where Ford already had its own plants, showed the Americans that it was also possible to do good business with the US one-off in Europe. On August 18, 1925, the "Ford Motor Company Aktiengesellschaft" was entered in the commercial register in Berlin. The share capital of five million Reichsmarks is quite substantial. The first business transaction is the import of 5000 Fordson tractors from the USA. Passenger cars are still banned from import.
