Germany in the late sixties. The typical Heinz Erhardt atmosphere prevails in German living rooms. Solid elegance in oak veneer - not exuberant luxury but a good standard. And people are slowly saying goodbye to the pompous forms of the petticoat era and seeking fulfillment in simple and unadorned elegance. A development that does not stop at the car. At Mercedes, the restrained Stroke Eight replaces the tail fin in 1967 and at Ford, the basic mid-range model 12 M is given a new edition. While the predecessor still had real Rubens curves to offer, the successor, available from 1966, looked as if it had been drawn with a ruler. The designer had given the car a certain austerity, as if he wanted to cut off the baroque braids completely. Alongside the newly presented P6, its predecessor, the P4, looked completely outdated overnight. The model series was planned with a total of four body variants. A two-door estate, a coupe and a saloon. There was also a panel van for commercial purposes.
