Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec - movie star and descendant of Godzilla
Summary
While the Nissan models that you could buy from dealers in this country in 1999 were called the Almera, Micra or Maxima and were more or less home cooking, in Japan there was the Skyline GT-R, a super sports car at a budget price, at least if you compared it with Porsche or Ferrari alternatives. From 1999 to 2002, the GT-R was called the R34 and the model achieved cult status in the movie "2 Fast 2 Furious". This report describes the R34 GT-R V-Spec and its relatives and shows them in many current and historical pictures, as well as in a movie clip.

While the Nissan models that you could buy from dealers in this country in 1999 were called Almera, Micra or Maxima, and were more or less home cooking, in Japan there was the Skyline GT-R, a super sports car at a budget price, at least if you compared it with Porsche or Ferrari alternatives. The Skyline models were correspondingly unknown to the masses in this country. However, this changed with the "Fast & Furious" film series, which drew hundreds of thousands of people's attention to the Japanese super sports car in our cinemas from 2001 onwards. While it was an R33 in the first "Fast & Furious" film, Paul Walker (Brian O'Conner in the movie) was allowed to drive an R34 himself in the second part. And apparently he liked the car so much that he bought it.
