Preview (beginning of the article)
On September 6, 2017, RM/Sotheby's auctioned 69 cars and two prototypes in London, more precisely at the "Battersea Evolution". The total value of the vehicles was over £ 20 million, but the sales proceeds were a manageable £ 7.06 million (EUR 7.77 million, CHF 8.83 million), as only 55% of the vehicles were sold, including, of course, the lots sold without a reserve price and generally the cheaper cars, which explains the average sales proceeds per lot of £ 181,140, which was well below the expected £ 281,803. With 14 Porsche, 9 Ferrari, 5 Mercedes-Benz and 3 Lamborghini, the car brands from mainland Europe took precedence over the British. There were 4 Aston Martins and just as many Jaguars from Great Britain. A total of 29 brands were represented, many such as Alfa Romeo, Alvis, Mazda and Nissan with just one vehicle.
