Whether an outdoor trade fair is trickier or more problem-free than other major events is not the subject of discussion here. In any case, Veterama, which is scheduled to take place from April 3 to 5, 2020 on the grounds of the Hockenheimring, is optimistic and ready to go despite coronavirus uncertainties.
At the beginning of April, the now 40-year-old Veterama in the paddock of the race track is set to become the Mecca of the classic and vintage car scene. Parking is free for classic cars, and there are plenty of attractions on offer.
You still need something
In the garages and workshops at home, the vehicles on two and four wheels are being prepared for their first outings. But wait, there's still a headlight missing, the window of the rear light is broken and there were already problems with the starter last year. Maybe you can find an originally packed bumper from old stock so that the slightly rusted and dented part can finally be replaced.
This is the right time to visit Veterama. According to the motto: if you can't find anything here, you don't need anything.
If you are traveling with a classic car, register at our Show Arena. Then you can park in the middle of the grounds and have your car judged by the public.
And then the search begins. Each individual stand can hold a part you are looking for. But you have to rummage in boxes, search under tables and sometimes ask the right questions, because the dealer usually says: "Oh, you know what, I still have one of those parts in the trunk. Wait a minute, I'll get it." That's exactly what Veterama is. This is where you meet real mechanics. Where else can you find such a wide range of parts for your vintage or classic car?
Many attractions
Some impressive dragsters are on display in the paddock pits. You can watch clips from races at the Hockenheimring on a screen.
The clubs have set up their stands in Hall 2, and in the Club Lounge you will have the opportunity to take a break or have a chat or two.
On the "marketplace" you will find interesting supplies for the next few months, or you can find a bargain in super original condition or perfectly restored.
This year's supporting program at Veterama: "Supermoto" is a comparatively young motorcycle sport that has been practiced in Europe since around 1985. The idea was to determine the best riders, i.e. the "superbikers", from the three motorcycle sports of motocross, road racing and dirt track or flat track, the American version of speedway. Real SuMo tracks have an asphalt section, a flat gravel section and a hilly off-road section. The asphalt part is usually 70 to 80 %, the off-road part 20 to 30 %.
The fascination of this sport lies in the spectacular drifts and overtaking maneuvers. In conjunction with VETERAMA and the Grenzbereich agency, Hockenheim-Ring GmbH has created the opportunity to offer SuperMoto training in the middle of the legendary Motodrom. Divided into groups according to ability, everyone - whether amateur riders or professional racers - will have the opportunity to do their laps on parts of the Formula 1 race track.
