The focus of the sixth Schloss Bensberg Classic 2014, which will take place from July 18 to 20, will of course once again be the Concours d'Elégance, which will be held in accordance with FIVA rules.
A top-class jury chaired by Dr.-Ing. Franz-Josef Paefgen, former CEO of Bentley Motors and President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S., will judge the participating vehicles at the FIVA Category A event. The public will also vote for their favorites and select the "Best in Show by Public".
The cars will compete in eight categories:
1. Impressive Elegance - Prestigious Saloons (Pre-War)
2. Open-Top Legends - Sporty Roadsters and Convertibles (Pre-War)
3. the Shape of Speed - Early Aerodynamic Designs
4th Heavenly Icons - Rare Convertibles (Post-War)
5. Italian Beauties - Forgotten Italian Classics
6 Passion and Power - 100 Years of Maserati
7 The Magic Material - Cars with Plastic Bodies
8. Roaring 50's - Racing Cars of the 1950s
The early aerodynamic designs and the cars with plastic bodies are particularly interesting.
Special exhibition Le Mans
The name of the French town of Le Mans on the Sarthe stands for a myth and has become synonymous with the endurance classic par excellence: a car race, 24 hours long, always at the limit, interruptions only for driver changes and the shortest possible pit stops.
Schloss Bensberg Classics 2014 pays tribute to the legendary 24-hour race with a fascinating special exhibition: "Vive Le Mans!" showcases some of the most impressive vehicles from the great history of Le Mans, including a Bentley Speed Six (1929), a Bugatti T51 (1931), a Porsche 956 "Rothmans" (1982) and three modern racing cars from Audi and Porsche.
Special exhibition Rallye Beetle, Golf and Co
Whether on asphalt, gravel, snow, ice or desert sand: Volkswagen has made rally history on almost every surface. At the Schloss Bensberg Classics 2014, some of these motorsport legends can be admired up close.
On display will be a Volkswagen 1303 S "Salzburg Beetle", the 1981 Rheila Golf, the Golf II Rally GTI, the Golf III Rally A59, the Pikes Peak Golf and last year's WRC champion Polo R WRC.
On the road in the Bergisches Land
At the Schloss Bensberg Classic Rallye Historique, classic vehicles up to 1984 compete on the winding and idyllic back roads of the Bergisches Land.
This competition is all about driving precision, where millimeters and hundredths of a second count. The focus is on a variety of regularity tests. The competition includes separate classifications for mechanical and electronic instruments.
