Following the positive experience with the Amelia Island auction with large online participation, RM/Sotheby's has decided to hold the Palm Beach auction "online only". This is in connection with the outbreak and spread of the corona virus. In this way, the auction house's customers and employees are to be protected without at the same time stopping trading.
At the Palm Beach auction, 290 lots will go under the hammer, the majority of which are cars of predominantly American provenance. However, among the Chevrolet, Buick, Chrysler and Ford, there are also some rarities and super classics from European production, such as Jaguar E-Types or the Alfa Romeo Gran Sport Quattroruote Zagato from 1968.
Meanwhile, competitor Barret-Jackson has postponed the Palm Beach auction, which was due to take place from April 16 to 18, to October. The current plan is October 15-17, 2020.
