Summary
260 vehicles, including a Vespa, were offered at the RM/Sotheby's auction in Palm Beach. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was not possible to hold an event with an audience on site. The vehicles were therefore auctioned exclusively online. In this way, USD 13.3 million of the estimated USD 29 million was realized. 63% of the vehicles were sold, and on average 77% of the estimated values were bid. Although some of the prices were somewhat lower than we have been used to in recent months, there was no sign of a sell-out and some of the lots were even auctioned at impressively high prices. This auction report analyzes the results and shows many of the cars on offer in pictures.

Preview (beginning of the article)
With 260 vehicles, the Palm Beach auction is one of the largest events organized by the RM/Sotheby's auction house. The event was originally planned as a four-day auction with an on-site audience, but the coronavirus pandemic forced the organizers to adapt the procedure. The auction was ultimately held as an online-only auction from March 20 to 28, 2020. Bids were accepted from March 20, 2020, while the closing took place on a rolling basis for the last lots on March 28, 2020. After just a short time, the bids submitted totaled over USD 13 million, and after eight days, bids for USD 22 million were even registered. One lot was withdrawn.
