76 cars and six motorcycles will go under the hammer at the popular spring auction at the Oldtimer Galerie Toffen on March 22, 2025. On average, the vehicles are almost 52 years old and valued at CHF 30,200. 55% of the lots are expected to find new owners without a reserve price.
Jaguar in front
Eight cars bear the Jaguar badge, six are from Mercedes-Benz and five from Citroën. Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Fiat and Rolls-Royce each built four of the cars that will go under the hammer in Toffen.
Vehicles of more exotic brands are also on offer, e.g. from Alvis, Auburn or Autobianchi. Overall, however, popular cars that people are familiar with predominate.
Sixties and seventies strongly represented
While seven vehicles date from the pre-war period, twelve were built in the post-war period (up to 1959).
The 1960s and 1970s are particularly well represented, with 18 and 15 lots respectively, while a further ten and 11 vehicles were produced in the 1970s and 1980s.
New cars left the factory in the new millennium, with a 2006 Bentley Continental Flying Spur being the youngest car ever built. It is a limousine that was developed with borrowings from VW Phaeton technology and was even built at VW in Dresden. At CHF 25,000 to 30,000, this special constellation wants to be paid for, although no minimum price is required.
Over a quarter open-top cars
18 convertibles, four roadsters and two Targa coupés will go under the hammer in Toffen, while saloons and estate cars will be represented by over 30 cars.
The convertibles are in the lead when it comes to estimated values, with an AC Cobra 427 (Replica by HS) from 2000 at the top of the list for CHF 130,000 to 140,000, followed by a Mercedes-Benz 190 SL from 1956 (CHF 90'000 to 100,000), a Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster from 1963 (CHF 85,000 to 95,000) and a Ferrari 360 Spider with F1 gearbox from 2001 (CHF 70,000 to 80,000).
The very special box duck
Anyone leafing through the catalog will soon come across a car that initially seems unremarkable. Visually, Lot 23 looks like a classic box duck, but the car is essentially a one-off.
The builder combined the chassis of a Citroën Ami Super with the 64 hp four-cylinder boxer engine from the Citroën GSA, a five-speed gearbox and the AK400 box body. This car was actually demonstrated and registered for road use at the beginning of the 2000s.
Now the fast gray box duck is said to cost CHF 20,000 to 25,000.
Boxster with accessories
For fans of sporty driving dynamics, a Porsche Boxster (986) built in 1998 and once delivered in Schweis should be of interest. Not only has the car only covered 68,350 kilometers, it has also been continuously improved.
A special exhaust system, GT3 carbon seats and an H&R suspension have been fitted to the mid-engined Porsche, which is now looking for a new owner for CHF 15,000 to 18,000 (no minimum price).
50 years of the Jaguar XJ-S
The Jaguar XJ-S celebrates its 50th birthday in 2025. Toffen is able to offer three examples, which in a broader sense cover all of the models once delivered. An XJ-S from 1989 will be sold as a coupé, an XJ-S from 1989 as a convertible and an XJ-SC as a Targa convertible.
All three cars have the 12-cylinder engine under the hood, the estimated values are between CHF 20,000 and 30,000.
Noblesse oblige
Toffen has four Rolls-Royces on offer for those who like to drive around in style with Emily in their eyes, covering a range of model years from 1963 to 1995. All of these cars cost significantly less today than they did when they first came onto the market. CHF 20,000 to 50,000 is enough for one of the four, and all are sold without a minimum price.
The three Bentleys on offer are also four-door models. In addition to the Continental Flying Spur from 2006 mentioned above, there is also a Turbo R from 1987 and an Arnage Red Label from 2002 up for auction. None of the Bentleys will cost more than CHF 32,000.
Exotics
As always, Toffen also has many vehicles outside the norm on offer.
This starts with an Autobianchi Bianchina Panoramica from 1967, a Dodge D100 as a panel van from 1966, a Lancia Flavia Sport Zagato 1500 from 1964 and a Plymouth Valiant Brougham V8 from 1975.
Volkswagen in the broader sense
Of course, there are also popular cars on the wish list of many classic car fans on March 22, 2025. These include a VW 1200 from 1957, a VW 1100 De Luxe from 1952, a Volvo 121 Amazon, an MG TC or B Roadster, two Ford Taunus (17 M and 20M), an Innocenti Mini Minor 850 from 1967, a Fiat Panda 4x4 or Alfa Romeo Spider 2.0 from 1992.
