It is certainly not the largest Jaguar collection, the "Jaguar Sports Car Collection" of the Swiss Christian Jenny. But it is probably one of the finest and most interesting Jaguar collections in the world, as it contains rarities that only exist once.
This includes the very first Jaguar sports car, an S.S. 90 prototype.
The XK 120 with aluminum body and Swiss racing history from 1949.
Or the Jaguar E-Type, the first coupé to be shown in Geneva in 1961.
Or the long-lost C-Type with chassis XKC023, which was finally rediscovered under a Devin plastic body.
Christian Jenny has now decided to break up his collection. To do so, he has turned to the specialist Pendine, who has his store on Buckingham Road in Oxfordshire, in the UK.
12 of the 13 cars documented in the book "The Jaguar Sports Car Collection" are listed on Pendine's website, only the black Lister Jaguar is missing. Interested parties are encouraged to enquire for more information, preferably online. However, the S.S. 90 prototype is already marked "Sold".
So yet another collection is being decommissioned, like many before it. It's a shame, but also understandable. Collectors have their own objectives according to which they search for and assemble their cars.
Who knows, perhaps the Geneva E-Type will end up in a large E-Type collection, other cars at Jaguar in Coventry itself. What is certain is that not too many cars will remain in Switzerland. As a Swiss, one is naturally a little sad about this.
The 12 cars can be viewed on the Pendine website. There is a review of the book "The Jaguar Sports Car Collection" on zwischengas.com.
