In its first two editions, Retro Classics Bavaria in Nuremberg was able to establish itself as a strong regional trade fair. From December 7 to 9, the "Franconian offshoot" of the well-known classic car trade fair Retro Classics Stuttgart will once again confidently present itself with its own profile: In four halls and on a total of 40,000 square meters of exhibition space, visitors can expect a huge range of products from renowned dealers and restorers, a large vehicle sales market, an international parts market, numerous club presentations and highly interesting special shows on exciting aspects of automotive history. A total of around 370 exhibitors are expected.
Modern classics in the spotlight
Following positive feedback last year, the aim is to further expand the so-called "neo-classic" segment in particular. The "youngsters" among the classics - manufactured vehicles, one-offs and cars up to 20 years old - are enjoying steadily growing popularity, especially among a new generation of collectors. "The classic car market is on the move," says Karl Ulrich Herrmann from organizer Retro Messen. "What used to be pre-war models are now road vehicles from the seventies, i.e. technically modern automobiles that are driven by their owners as an expression of an attitude to life on the road. We expressly welcome this development, because the automobile is a living cultural asset."
Special shows with German cultural assets
Tracing the multifaceted history of this cultural asset using selected exhibits is a "moving" journey through time in the best sense of the word. This year's Retro Classics Bavaria will feature two top-class special shows with a strong regional focus: "BMW at the International Automobile and Motorcycle Exhibition (IAMA) 1936 - 1938" will showcase the rarest and most valuable vehicles that the Bavarian car manufacturer presented to an astonished public at the time (Hall 4A).
The "Zündapp Janus" special show, which brings a piece of Nuremberg's industrial history to life, is also a source of amazement (Foyer Hall 3A): Produced from 1957 to 1958, the miniature car, in which the driver and passenger sat back to back, is now considered a sought-after curiosity - with many fans in and around Nuremberg.
Extensive supporting program
Retro Classics Bavaria is a special classic car event not least because of its select supporting program. The Allianz Retro Night on the opening day, for example, offers an opportunity to exchange first experiences of the trade fair in a relaxed atmosphere (Hall 3A). A live auction by Auktion & Markt AG on Saturday (Hall 4) promises exciting bidding battles. And those planning a visit to the fair with the whole family can bring the day to a contemplative close at the famous Nuremberg Christmas Market in the Old Town.
