The "Bosch Hockenheim Historic - The Jim Clark Revival" is an exceptional event in many respects. From April 20 to 22, it welcomes visitors to the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg with open arms: free access to the paddock, no security in front of the team garages, open house in the congress pavilion for the large Jim Clark exhibition.
Everyone is also welcome on the pit roof. There will be stalls with memorabilia relating to historic racing, games for children - and a party with live music. Another attraction is the brand club area with its countless collectors' vehicles. The organizers do everything they can to ensure that visitors can simply enjoy the "historic racing experience". Last year, just under 20,000 came - including a striking number of families.
The "Jim Clark Revival" was created in honor of the legendary Scottish Formula 1 world champion. April 7, 2018 marks the 50th anniversary of his tragic death in an accident at the Hockenheimring.
Historic racing cars from all classes and eras
The focus is on historic racing cars from all eras and classes. 16 different series will ensure that the Grand Prix circuit is a hive of activity for three days. At their premiere as part of the Bosch Hockenheim Historic, the "Touring Car Classics" will take spectators' hearts by storm. Want to bet? Just three years after it was founded, veritable starter fields of over 50 touring cars from the 80s and 90s, including DTM cars driven by Ellen Lohr, Klaus Ludwig and Roland Asch, will be thrilling. As in the good old days, fan favorite Rainer Braun will be the track announcer.
BOSS GP, CanAm Cup - woe betide them when they let loose
Traditional partner and crowd puller: the "BOSS GP" series (Big Open Single Seater). Its main attraction are Formula 1 racing cars of more recent vintage - from the powerful-voiced ten-cylinder era. Earplugs are a must (for children all day!). This also applies when the wild CanAm Cup cars are unleashed, with breathtaking speed and nerve-wracking noise. The Raceclub Germany powered by FNT impresses with a mix of F1 and F-3000 racing cars. And Raceclub Germany is no slouch either, with Timo Glock's Formula 1 Toyota, Keke Rosberg's 1984 Williams Honda - and the absolute eye-catcher, Michael Schumacher's 1997 Ferrari! Of course, the owners of these exquisite gems are not planning a duel. The mode of transportation of the moment here is a cultivated presentation drive.
In contrast, the Special Touring Car Trophy and the Youngtimer Touring Car Challenge, both with colorful starting fields, get down to business. Or the FIA Lurani Trophy, the Triumph Competition and the Historic Racecar Association. The
Lotus Cup Europe. The series is particularly reminiscent of Jim Clark; after all, he founded the "Lotus fascination".
Large Jim Clark exhibition in the congress pavilion
The highlight of the exhibitions is also dedicated to Jim Clark 50 years after his accidental death on April 7, 1968 on the Forest Straight. The two-time world champion from Scotland was already considered a legend during his lifetime. The black weekend is the focus of the exhibition in the Congress Pavilion, with photos and autograph cards from contemporary witnesses. In addition, the Lotus 49B/R10 from 1967, in which Graham Hill won the Monaco Grand Prix the following year, will complete the exhibits.
During the day, the pit roof is an Eldorado for families (historical funfair, can throwing, fashion show and much more). And when everyone is already exhausted on Saturday evening, the Boxendach party with the popular cover band "Me and the Heat" acts as a wake-up call. A day ticket for Saturday or Sunday costs 30 euros each, 45 euros for the weekend, wheelchair users and children under the age of 14 have free admission - paddock and free choice of seats included.
