When three Vauxhall, nine Land Rover, two Standard and four Austin cars come under the hammer, the auction typically takes place in the UK. Bonhams' MPH auctions in Bicester have become a tradition for some time now. The focus here is not usually on high-priced concours beauties, but on utility classics and former bread-and-butter cars, which of course also have their appeal.
On average, the 107 vehicles going under the hammer on March 20, 2021 are worth around £18,715, with the most expensive car estimated at over £150,000, a 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC AMG 6.0 Wide Body.
The Lotus Seven for the Concours
Restoration objects are always offered at the MPH auctions, and this will also be the case on March 20, 2021.
The announced (left-hand drive) Lotus Seven S3 from 1969, however, takes a completely different direction, because this car not only has a very low total mileage, it has also been restored extremely faithfully and looks like a new car. The expected £23,000 to £28,000 seems quite realistic.
Museum cars
Of interest to fans of quirky cars are certainly the various museum cars that Bonhams has to offer, including a replica of the Mr. Bean Mini, a replica Batmobile and a Herbie-style VW Beetle.
The ETV, a relatively new car called the Extra Terrestrial Vehicle, is also particularly unusual.
The collection of a racing enthusiast
The vehicles consigned by a "Gentleman and Racing Enthusiast" look very British, including two Vauxhall VX 4/90s from 1963 and 1968, a Riley 12/4 Kestrel Sprite from 1936, an Austin A35 from 1958 and a Datsun 1600 SSS from 1972 in rally trim.
Anyone looking to buy a Ford Transit, a Lagonda 2.6 Drophead Coupé or a Lotus Eclat with a V8 engine can also be catered for in Bicester.
And there are even a few super classics on offer, such as a Jaguar XK 150 from 1959 or a Bentley S-Series Saloon from 1956.
You should also take a look at the typical British offerings such as a Ford Consul from 1953, a Standard 9 HP 111 Saloon from 1931 or a Singer Junior from 1928.
