Alpine shows the "Vision" concept car as a foretaste of the new Alpine, which is to be sold from 2017. The sports car is once again expected to be manufactured in Dieppe, with the production-ready version to be unveiled at the end of this year.
In the style of the Berlinette
Unlike the A110 Berlinette, whose style it partly imitates, the new Alpine will be equipped with a mid-engine rather than a rear engine. In terms of its characteristics, however, the new model should also be very reminiscent of the old one, i.e. it should be lightweight, authentic, sporty and exciting to drive.
It is also clear that the Alpine of the modern era will be somewhat faster than the Berlinette of the seventies. A time of 4.5 seconds is to be achieved in 4.5 seconds thanks to a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
A look back
From 1955 to 1995, Alpine built 26,666 cars in France and a further 3454 abroad (under license). In addition, there were 70 monoposti and 37 sports car prototypes.
In motorsport, the Alpine was particularly successful in rallies, winning the World Rally Championship and its predecessor in 1971 and 1973.
In addition, there were many victories at national and international level and, in 1978, victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Didier Piorni and Jean-Pierre Jassaud in the A442B.
After the A106/108, the A110 and later the A310 and A610 and their derivatives were the main sales successes on the road.
It will be interesting to see the final version of the new "Berlinette".
