Preview (beginning of the article)
On May 22, 2021, bidders were once again able to attend live as Silverstone Auctions auctioned 63 classic cars alongside motorcycles and automobilia at Stoneleigh Park, south of Coventry in England. The cars were worth around £6.5 million, which meant just under £100,000 per car. On average, the vehicles were 39 years old. Pre-war vehicles were not on offer. 37 vehicles found new owners within three hours, which corresponded to a sales rate of 59 percent. Two cars had been withdrawn beforehand. Two rare youngtimers from Subaru and Lancia ensured an intense bidding war. The Subaru was a 1999 Impreza 22B STi, one of only 16 examples officially imported to the UK. The last owner of the rare evolutionary model remained loyal to it for 18 years. The speedometer showed around 49,000 miles and the license plate "N 22B UK" matched the car perfectly.
