Bonhams Gstaad Auction 2022 - high prices for Porsche, Ferrari, Monteverdi and specialties
Summary
Bonhams auctions in Gstaad have been held for decades, but now the British auction house returned to the fashionable summer and winter resort on July 3, 2022. A wide range of 55 vehicles with a value of over CHF/EUR 10 million attracted many interested parties to the Bernese Oberland, with a sales rate of 91 percent and high bids for many of the lots proving that Bonhams was on the right track with its offer. Two more recent Porsches, two Ferraris and the third Monteverdi Coupé ever built were really expensive, as well as a few rarities that you don't find every day. This auction report describes the atmosphere on site, analyzes the results and shows the vehicles in pictures.

Preview (beginning of the article)
There is simply something different about attending an auction in person or watching it via livestream. Only in the auction room can you really feel the excitement, watch the bidders and experience the auctioneer's work up close. This begins with the preview of the cars, which in the case of Bonhams' Gstaad auction were attractively presented on two underground parking levels of the Gstaad Palace Hotel. A few cars were on display outside, while the little Heinkel was in the hotel reception hall. It had been around a dozen years since Bonhams had organized an auction in Gstaad. The famous Ferrari auctions at the end of each year are still a topic of conversation today. Now it was time again on July 3, 2022. 55 classic cars, including a Ducati motorcycle, went under the hammer alongside two paintings to set the mood.
