What are Playboy cars good for? Lamborghini versus Maserati, De Tomaso and Monteverdi
Summary
This is probably a one-off test, probably the only one in this constellation. The Lamborghini Miura meets the De Tomaso Mangusta, the Monteverdi hi speed 375 S and the Maserati Ghibli. Playboy cars is what hobby calls this sports car category. Well, the vehicles perform well and even today in 2011, acceleration times and top speeds are impressive, especially when you consider that the test took place over 40 years ago. The fact that the Monteverdi won as the best all-rounder in this test, but the Miura was the fastest, is probably only of historical interest from today's perspective, but the fact that the vehicles were notable for a number of problems could still be relevant for one or two fans today.

hobby has already tested many a 70,000 Mark car, such as the Rolls Royce or the Mercedes 600, but no one has ever managed to test four cars in this price category at once. Our friends in Monza were amazed when we 'tore up' the track rented from hobby with 1,400 hp belonging to four cars that can reach speeds of between 250 and 280 km/h. The Lamborghini Miura led the way, followed by the Maserati Ghibli, the Monteverdi high speed 375 S and last but not least the beefy de Tomaso Mangusta - cars that knock the socks off anyone who sees them. These four cars not only share a common price range of between 60,000 and 70,000 marks, they also have a power output of more than 300 hp, a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of between six and seven seconds and a top speed of between 250 and 280 km/h, which only super sports cars can achieve. The special bodies are also common: Ghia made the Ghibli and Mangusta, Bertone dressed the Miura and Fissore the Monteverdi; bespoke and not ready-made!
