Summary
The Lancia Stratos is perhaps the most famous rally car of all and certainly one of the few cars that were created precisely for this purpose. No wonder, then, that the well-known rally documentary filmmaker Helmut Deimel also fulfilled his wish to own one of the almost 500 vehicles. This report tells how Deimel came across the Lancia Stratos and shows the Group 4 car in all its facets, supplemented by many archive photos from the time.

"What fascinates me most is the sound and the shape of the Stratos. The most formative experience I had in this respect was almost 40 years ago at the San Remo Rally. In Baiardo, Italy, you could already hear Mr. Munari and Mr. Waldegaard when they were probably still ten kilometers away. You could even see the cars for the last two kilometers. The blasts of gas as they accelerated out of the countless hairpin bends and tight corners were pure ear candy, especially with the four-valve Stratos. Surrounded by countless Italians, we all listened attentively. I don't think you could experience a Stratos more intensely anywhere else."
