Summary
In 1976, Lancia presented the Gamma series, consisting of a hatchback saloon and a stunningly designed notchback coupé. With a four-cylinder boxer engine, the vehicles were sufficiently motorized, but the competition offered six or more cylinders for less money in some cases. The luxury class Lancia thus remained a marginal phenomenon and was withdrawn from the range in 1984. This report looks back at the history of the Lancia Gamma Coupé and shows an example from 1982 in detail, supplemented by historical photographs and pictures of two concept cars based on the same model.

Aldo Brovarone, working for Pininfarina, was in charge when it came to building a sports car that would both replace the very elegant Fiat 130 Coupé and use the technical basis of the Gamma saloon designed by Pininfarina at the same time.
