Friendship model - The last Maserati 3500 GTI built by Pietro Frua

Pietro Frua built four individual coupés on the chassis of the Maserati 3500 GTI, three of which are known today, one is lost. On June 22, 2015, one of the three coupés, which had been in the same family for almost 50 years, will be auctioned by Artcurial in Paris. This report describes the background and history of the unique Maserati 3500 GTI with Frua bodywork and shows the coupé in historical and current pictures.

The record result achieved by the auction house Artcurial for the unrestored Maserati A6G/54 Coupé ( chassis number 2140 ) by Pietro Frua from the Baillon collection is having an effect and has brought another rare Maserati model from the hand of the Turin master designer onto the market. After the second of four 3500 GTI Coupés built with chassis number AM 101.1496 was auctioned off in restored condition by RM Auctions in Monterey in August 2014 for the equivalent of 492,000 euros, the last unrestored Coupé built with chassis number AM 101.2242 will now be offered by Artcurial in Paris on June 22, 2015 .
