If you wanted to buy an affordable yet elegant six-cylinder saloon at the beginning of the 1980s, there was no way around the Ford Granada. It was not for nothing that Ford was the market leader for six-cylinder vehicles in Europe at the time. In August 1977, Ford presented the second generation of the Granada, which replaced the first model presented at the 1972 Geneva Motor Show and did away with the hip-swinging romance in favor of a much more sober and straightforward style. Bob Lutz, then General Director of Ford Europe, said at the presentation of the Ford stylist designed by Uwe Bahnsen: "The old Granada was too soft in appearance for me."
