On September 20, 2026, the Zihlschlacht-Sitterdorf airfield in Thurgau will become a gathering place for enthusiasts of rare automobiles—in fact, it will host two events at once: Triumph Day and the GFK “Fantastic Plastic” meet will take place on the same day at the same location.
Triumph Day is the nationwide gathering for all cars of the Triumph brand and its derivatives, such as Peerless, Devin, Warwick, Triumph Italia, and Bond. Organizer Markus Tanner, a Triumph owner since 1987, launched the event with a group of longtime enthusiasts and collectors from Eastern Switzerland. From 1923 to 1984, Triumph built cars ranging from sports cars to sedans and station wagons, and supplied the technology to numerous small-series manufacturers. Many of these vehicles have survived to this day.
Running parallel to this is Fantastic Plastic, the international gathering for vehicles with plastic bodies. It arose from the need to reestablish a platform for these special cars following the end of the GFK meeting, which was once organized by zwischengas.com at the Swiss Museum of Transport. The organizers, Marco Brühlmann (Anhänger-Brühlmann) and Markus Tanner (Classic Car Connection AG), own such vehicles themselves and have been hosting the event annually ever since. Many brands you’ve likely never heard of are on display—a great opportunity to broaden your horizons.
The fact that both events are held together is intentional, not a coincidence: in a single day, visitors can experience two very different facets of the classic car world. Guests with “non-plastic” classic cars are also welcome; a separate parking lot is available for them.
