Now in its 38th year, the Südtirol Classic Schenna is itself considered a classic car, but in the most positive sense: fans of historic vehicles indulge their passion in the sunny municipality above Merano with increasing enthusiasm - in 2024 from July 7 to 14. During the preliminary program until 9 July, the stopwatch and road book will remain in the glove compartment. Instead, the focus will be on culinary highlights and relaxed rides through the Passeier and Eisack valleys.
With the start of the main program on Wednesday, things will get "serious". Even if it's not about speed, but skill and the right timing, a dozen time trials make routes such as the "Meraner Land Prologue" or the "Mediterranean Panorama Drive in South Tyrol's South" a sporting experience. The highlight of the "Rally of Sympathy" is the 250-kilometre tour of the Dolomites over the most beautiful passes of the Unesco World Heritage Site.
In 2024, late risers can look forward to a new evening drive including night tests, while Bolzano lovers can look forward to the car parade through the South Tyrolean capital. And Schenna guests can also be right in the middle of it all if they wish: They can get particularly close to the action on Classic Wednesday, when the owners of the highly polished veterans allow themselves to be looked under the hood during the vehicle inspection.
Hospitality is a top priority at Schenna's "Rally of Sympathy", as the drivers and their co-drivers can look forward to a varied supporting program full of enjoyable moments away from the race. While participants and organizers get to know each other at an atmospheric dinner at Schenna Castle at the start of the Classic on 10 July 2024, lunch will take place during the big Dolomites tour on the Monte Pana high plateau in the face of striking summit formations such as the Sella massif and the Sassolungo group. On the following Friday, there will be an exciting program including a parade through the South Tyrolean capital exclusively for the participants in Bolzano, and the final evening with award ceremony in the Kurhaus in Merano will be festive and elegant.
In 2024, the 38th Südtirol Classic Schenna will see up to 120 lovingly spruced-up automobiles at the start. Vehicles from the "Swinging Sixties" are just as eligible as American battleships from the 1930s. The new classification includes classic cars built up to 1945 in Group I, 1946 to 1965 in Group II (including guaranteed starting places) and youngtimers from 1966 to 1985 in Group III. In addition, ten starting places are reserved for vehicles built up to 1985, which can take part in the rally including classification.
There are various participation packages (e.g. pre-program & rally with hotel, rally without hotel, etc.). The four-day package for two people, including participation in the main event and four overnight stays, costs from 2430 euros.
