In the special exhibition, PS.Speicher provides information about the life and work of a woman who wrote automotive history - at a time when women were still real pioneers in the industry. Gunhild Liljequist (1936-2022) was the first woman to start working in the Volkswagen "Colors and Fabrics" department in 1964, where she left a lasting mark. She designed the legendary check pattern of the Golf GTI, created the iconic Golfball gear knob and was responsible for numerous special models in the VW range, including the famous velvet red special Beetle and the "50 Years of the Beetle" anniversary Beetle. With her keen sense for colors, materials and shapes, she shaped the appearance of entire generations of vehicles - often bold, always style-defining.

The exhibition shows some special models and color examples from her pen and also illuminates Liljequist's creative passion in all its facets. The exhibition goes far beyond pure automotive design. It shows Liljequist's creative passion in all its facets - from private works of art to her work as a trained porcelain painter. Numerous previously unpublished photographs from her private estate reveal how a talented designer developed into a true design icon. The show pays tribute to an extraordinary woman whose visions continue to inspire the automotive world to this day.
For future generations
Marco Strohmeier, the initiator and idea behind the special exhibition, emphasizes that this homage is not taking place in Einbeck by chance: "I am extremely pleased that we are honoring the life's work of Gunhild Liljequist. She was a guest at PS.Speicher twice more in the last years of her life. It is a personal concern of mine to remember this important woman and wonderful personality and to ensure that her work and her formative influence on automotive culture remain alive for future generations."
