The well-known and no less popular Planai Classic will take place from January 3 to 5, 2020. Whether there will be as much snow again this time as at last year's Planai Classic 2019 is not yet known. However, it is very well known: With 52 starters, the Planai Classic has more participants than ever before!
Legendary cross-section through automotive history
Driving like in the past, when there was no talk of electric and hybrid cars: with 52 starters, more classic cars than ever before are taking part in the upcoming Planai Classic (3 to 5 January). The starting field will be dominated by 10 Volvos, 8 VW Beetles and 7 Porsches. The oldest car is an 80 hp OM Mille Miglia Superba from 1927. The variety of models from 1927 to 1972 is a fabulous cross-section of automotive history.
On January 3rd from 16:00 in Schladming: Riley, Jaguar XK and Mk II, Volvo PV 544, P1800, 144S, 121 and 142 S. Ford Anglia, Escort, Mustang and Capri, Porsche 356, 911, 914/6 and 912, Mercedes 200 and 450 SL, VW Beetle, Lancia Fulvia, MG B and C, Fiat 850, BMW Alpina, Lotus-Cortina, Jenson CV8, Opel-Kadett, Steyr-Fiat 1500, Mini-Cooper, Fiat-Abarth 2300 S, Oldsmobile Delta 88 and a Datsun 240Z.
Both cars and drivers at the limit
With a total length of 243 km and a total of 30 special stages in which the 40 km/h average speed must be maintained, the Planai-Classic will push the classic cars and their drivers to the limit. But the weather will be decisive. This year there was a massive onset of winter, which the participants will remember for a long time to come. Even the 40-car average could not be maintained...
