After its first edition in 2016, the Franconian edition of the world's largest trade fair for driving culture quickly developed into a high-turnover platform with its own face.
The fifth Retro Classics Bavaria® was due to open its doors to an expert audience from December 4 to 6, 2020 - but now the popular scene platform in the inventor city of Nuremberg has had to be postponed. The organizers justify this with an imponderable overall situation.
Postponement and a final point after all
"In view of the current circumstances and the expected further restrictions, it is unfortunately not possible at present to successfully realize an event of this type and size," says Andreas Herrmann, Managing Director of Retro Messen GmbH in Stuttgart. Despite broad interest from the region and a "viable safety concept" developed in close coordination with the authorities, the trade fair will therefore have to be postponed to December 3-5, 2021.
Thanks to its central location and good infrastructure, Retro Classics Bavaria® has seen a steady increase in the number of participants from other German states and abroad in recent years, explains Herrmann. In addition to current event regulations, the "dynamic development of entry and quarantine regulations" has forced the organizers to postpone the date.
However, this does not mean that classic car fans will have to do without their beloved season finale altogether: Auction specialist Classicbid is moving its classic car auction, originally planned for the trade fair, online. Live streaming will therefore provide "pure excitement" on all three Retro days. At the virtual "Retro Classics Bavaria® Auctions powered by Classicbid" (December 4, 5 and 6, 2020), dream cars in various price categories and high-quality automobilia will go under the hammer.
