It has been known for many decades that Rudi Klein had amassed an almost unbelievable collection of classic cars in California.
The German immigrant had already started trading in fine cars in the 1960s, but he simply kept many of them. Klein died in 2001, but his collection remained untouched.
The vehicles will now go under the hammer at RM/Sotheby's towards the end of October 2024
Legendary rarities
The cars to be auctioned include many super classics and genuine rarities.
At least three Lamborghini Miura, several Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, some Mercedes-Benz 600, a Mercedes-Benz 500K, many Porsche, Ferrari and other Italian exotics are looking for new owners.
While some vehicles are largely completely preserved, others are more like gutted junkyard treasures. But the cars are always interesting.
Only the refurbishment as part of the preparations for the auction will show the status of the papers.
Who knows, maybe a future Pebble Beach winner will grow out of this Rudi Klein collection?
Further information can be found on the RM/Sotheby's website. The catalog is expected in September 2024.
