Summary
Over two days on August 13 and 14, 2021, Gooding & Company auctioned 128 adult and four children's cars in Pebble Beach. The value of the "real" cars was estimated at an average of over USD 1.1 million. The much-heralded McLaren F1 fetched over USD 20 million, but the surprises happened elsewhere, such as with a Mercedes-Benz 300 SD (W116) or 1980s tuning cars. 87% of the cars were sold, bidding averaged 97% of the median estimate, but there was considerable fluctuation both upwards and downwards. This auction review analyzes the results and shows many of the cars in pictures.

Preview (beginning of the article)
After a year's forced break, the eyes of classic car collectors, investors and interested parties were naturally focused on the major auctions surrounding the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elégance. Gooding auctioned 128 large automobiles and four children's cars on Friday and Saturday (August 13 and 14, 2021). The estimated total value was over USD 142 million, with over USD 1.1 million expected per car. On average, the cars were almost 60 years old. They came from 47 brands. As usual, Ferrari (23 cars, including two Dino) and Porsche (13) dominated the offer, all other manufacturers were represented in single figures at most, some less well-known brands even with only one car.
