On the last Sunday in June (June 25, 2023), the organizers of the traditional classic car meeting of the Touring Club Appenzell Ausserrhoden were once again able to speak of a great success. Around 210 older and vintage vehicles gathered on the Schwägalp. The public also showed great interest.
Rarities and photo subjects
Anyone looking for rare vehicles as an expert or photographer had an easy time at the classic car meeting organized by TCS AR. Around 210 vehicles gathered in the rear parking lot of Schwägalp from half past nine.
Some models stood out from the crowd; for example, a Corvette 2 with fuel injection (1965), a Ghia 450 SS (1967), a Clénet Series 1 (1979) or a Maybach SW 38 from 1936. The classic cars on four wheels were joined by individual motorcycles and a 63-year-old agricultural vehicle - a "Rapid" from Innerrhoden.
Guest Swiss Jaguar E-Type Club
A guest club was also represented this year and introduced itself with a corso accompanied by a microphone: it was the Swiss Jaguar E-Type Club, founded in 1978. It presented itself with almost 30 vehicles.
Wood carburetor car voted the most beautiful
As part of the "Säntis-Concours", a jury selected the three most beautiful vehicles: first prize went to Daniel Hagen from Wil (Ford Model A, 1929, with wood carburetor), second to Walter Bruderer from Niederuzwil (BMW Z1, 1990), third to Peter and Käthi Mühlematter from Holderbank (Jaguar E, V 12).
A public competition was also held once again: For a majority of visitors, the white and pink Volkswagen of Lea Zeberli from Bischofszell was the most beautiful vehicle on the square.
In the afternoon, OC President Peter Aeschlimann and his helpers were able to look back on a successful event without any incidents.
