The weather forecast was rather modest, with the rain radar predicting repeated showers - not a good omen for a classic car meeting. But real enthusiasts will of course not be deterred from attending the popular classic car Sunday morning meeting at the Stierenstallungen in Zug, even if they have to leave the summer convertible in the garage for once and use a youngtimer or rain-suitable classic car instead. Despite the changeable conditions, there was plenty to see.
Dried and soaked
And indeed, the weather changed almost by the minute. If the sun shone briefly, it was soon followed by another short shower.
In an emergency, however, you could always seek shelter from the wet and let soaked clothes and dripping shoes dry again.
Big and small
On the gravel parking lot in the bull stables, large and small cars were parked in a wild jumble as always.
Whether Fiat 500 or Buick, Lotus Elan or Pontiac Firebird, everything was duly admired and thanked for coming.
Cheap and expensive
From the inexpensive Fiat Bambino (126) or Panda to the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, now consistently traded in the seven-figure range, expensive rarities and inexpensive bread-and-butter cars offered plenty to look at and discuss.
Maintained and used
Whether completely restored over many years or simply running or deliberately presented as such, there were not only Concours cars to admire, but also the opposite.
In the USA, there is a special Concours de Lemons. But the main thing is that the cars are fun.
Aged and young at heart
While some cars looked really old because the design was clearly reminiscent of past decades, there were also many young vehicles on the course.
Some were not even youngtimers yet, but you can make an exception in rainy weather, can't you?
Eating and drinking
Of course, there was no shortage of food and drink. The crowds were somewhat smaller than in sunny weather, but that was just as well, as the stand personnel had a lot to do to protect the tent facilities from the stormy gusts.
Collected and individually
There was a large number of some car brands on the site.
This was of course to be expected for BMW, Packard and Volvo, as these cars were particularly celebrated with special shows.
However, the fact that so many Saab cars had also driven up at the same time was not apparent from the program in advance.
Of course, the majority of the participants traveled individually and if there were still several Lotus Elan, Plymouth Barracuda or Ford Mustang of different years to admire, then this was simply a nice coincidence.
The raindrops were great fun for the photographer, but perhaps less so for one or two of the participants - after all, the beautiful piece has to be cleaned again after a successful return home. So let's hope for better weather when the last meeting of the year is scheduled for September 10, 2023.
P.S. If we have once again made a mistake with the vehicle names or the years of construction, we would be happy to receive suggestions for corrections in the comments. Thank you!
