Borgward calendar 2020
100 years ago, the company "Bremer Kühlerfabrik Borgward & Co." was founded from the company "Bremer Reifenindustrie" (June 1, 1920). The small company started building vehicles in 1924. Over the next 30 years, these cars made the name "Borgward" world-famous. More than 2 million vehicles rolled off the assembly lines of the plants in the Hastedt, Neustadt, Sebaldsbrück and Osterholz-Scharmbeck districts. But Borgward had to close its doors in 1961. Mismanagement had led to bankruptcy.
The Borgward calendar keeps the memory of the cars from Bremen alive. The historical advertising photos show the vehicles from the 1950s.
Pictured is the chic Isabella limousine, which reached speeds of 150 km/h in the sporty version.
The other pictures show the luxury class car Hansa 2400 S (1953) and the "Big Borgward" (100 hp, 160 km/h) from 1959. Further photos show the small car Lloyd Alexander TS (25 hp, 120 km/h) and the sophisticated Isabella Coupé (sales price in 1959 approximately 11,000 DM; according to today's purchasing power around 50,000 DM corresponds to approx. 25,000 EUR).
The other calendar pages present other vehicles. The November page is dedicated to the entrepreneur Carl F. W. Borgward (1890-1963), who was born in November.
Over the past 20 years, Peter Kurze has been able to acquire the estates of several photographers with almost 120,000 photos and negatives. Today, the photographs in his archive are well organized. They mainly show vehicles from German car manufacturers of the 1950s and 1960s. These photos were and are used to create books and the calendar, among other things.
DKW vintage car calendar 2020
The DKW calendar 2020 commemorates the DKW automobiles of the 1950s and 1960s, which were produced by the "Auto Union" company (later Audi) in Ingolstadt and Düsseldorf. The historical photos show the vehicle range from the elegant AU 1000 sports coupé (55 hp, 140 km/h, built 1961-1965) to the Munga all-wheel drive off-road vehicle, the standard vehicle of the German armed forces (40 and 44 hp, 90 km/h, built 1956-1968).
The color photos also show the popular "Rundlinge" Meisterklasse, 3=6 and an AU 1000. Kurze also shows pictures of the last DKW passenger car (F 102, 60 hp, 135 km/h, built 1964-1966), the F5 Roadster (20 hp, 85 km/h, built 1935-1938) and an early Audi 100 LS (100 hp, 170 km/h, built 1968-1976).
The color photos are originals taken by professional photographers at the time with a lot of effort, pretty models and beautiful cars.
