Among the major concours, "Lugano Elegance" is certainly one of the smaller ones. But collectors from all over the world have been persuaded that Lugano, just a few kilometers from Cernobbio and the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, is home to a top-class event.
Paolo Pedersoli, responsible for the organization of the annual "Lugano Elegance" event, explains how it differs from other beauty competitions:
"The event is not 'limited' to a pure Concours d'Elégance. We also want to create an event that appeals to those who are not particularly interested in the automotive sector. The vintage market and musical performances are just the first steps towards an event that celebrates history, culture and the charm of the past in a light way, without diminishing its importance, while appealing to the whole family."
"Lugano Elegance" will take place again on May 21-23, 2026. It is obvious that Lugano is the perfect location for a classic car event. The city is ideally located between countries in the north and south of Europe. On the way to Italy, you pass Lugano almost automatically if you are traveling from Germany or northern Switzerland. And many a traveler passing through has ended up in the canton of Ticino. Famous racing drivers such as Rudolf Caracciola and Clay Regazzoni also belong to Lugano, and the automotive tradition is an integral part of Ticino's DNA. And word has long since spread that the sun shines more often in Lugano than in other parts of Switzerland.
Exclusive and special
Around 40 exceptional cars will once again be at the start in May 2026.
They will be judged in six classes, with the sixth class dedicated to Ilario Bandini's cars.
- Classes 1 to 4: Pre-war & classic cars (1900-1970) A journey through the masterpieces that shaped the automobile.
- Class 5: Youngtimers & Supercars (1980-2025) Modern icons and instant classics that have marked their time.
- Class 6: Homage to Ilario Bandini The special class dedicated to the ingenious master builder. This class will be juried by the person best qualified to do so: Michele Bandini, grandson of the great manufacturer. He himself will chair the jury for this class and evaluate the exhibited masterpieces.
You canregister now and those who do so by January 6, 2026 are even entitled to an early bird discount.
