The popular Michaelskreuzrennen was also unable to take place in 2020 due to coronavirus, and in October 2021 the event had to be postponed again to the following year.
The event actually takes place every three years, in 2011, 2014 and 2017 it was held for the 3rd, 4th and 5th time as a historic hill climb without timekeeping.
For October 8 and 9, 2022, however, the signs are good that it will be held again. You can never be sure, which is why the event website states: "The COVID situation is being constantly monitored and the necessary protection concepts are being discussed with the authorities. We will send out the payment slips for the outstanding entry fees as late as possible (approx. July-August), but please pay the amount promptly."
Register now
Registration is already open and the relevant forms can be downloaded from the website. We are looking for motorcycles with vintages up to and including 1990 and pre- and post-war automobiles up to 1990. There are exceptions to the vintage rule for very special vehicles.
The registration deadline has been set for July 31, 2022. The entry fee is a humane CHF 200 for motorcycles, CHF 220 for sidecars and CHF 320 for cars.
Challenging hill climb course
The route is a tough one, covering 3.42 km from 440 m to 745 m. The start is in Root and the winding road leads up to the Michaelskreuz chapel.
Further information and the registration forms can be found on the website of the historic mountain test. Now all that remains is for the weather to cooperate in October 2022 ...
