On the weekend of 15 - 17 September 2023, the historic racing event "Lignières Historique" will start its next round. After the prologue in 2013 and the successful events in 2014 and 2015, "TCS Training & Events" took a longer break and used it to renovate and optimize the infrastructure of the center in Lignières.
The Circuit de Lignières should once again become a meeting place for racing fans and owners of historic sports and racing cars - perhaps not quite as wild as it was in the 1960s and 1970s, but with the passion that made this circuit the Mecca of Swiss motorsport for decades.
The 1350-metre-long circuit, the only one in Switzerland that is steeped in history, will open its doors to historic racing and sports cars this September weekend and finally bring a real racing atmosphere back to the freshly laid asphalt.
A look at the history of the circuit shows how many celebrities have already been racing on this small circuit. Among others, people like Siffert in 1964, Regazzoni in 1965, Hotz in 1979, Surer in 1983, Bellof in 1984, as well as Fässler, Buemi and Jani in 2016, were there in a wide variety of cars.
The unforgettable Stefan Bellof, for a long time the fastest man on the Nordschleife (6:11.13 in the works Porsche 956C on 28.5.1983) was almost exactly one year later, namely on 24.5.1984 after the super lap on the longest, now in the same car but now probably on the shortest race track.
On that spring day, Brun-Motorsport presented its team at the foot of the Chasseral. The reason for this was the new Swiss sponsor "Swatch", whose headquarters are located near the circuit in Biel.
Many different starting fields will illustrate the history of motorsport in September 2023 and are sure to provide thrilling races.
