On August 26, 2018, the Grand Prix Suisse Berne Memorial will once again see around 250 historic racing and sports cars set off on demonstration drives on the circuit outside the gates of Bern, bringing the racing atmosphere of the "Grand Prix of Bern" back to life.
Looking back
From 1934 to 1954, Formula 1 races were held on the "Bremgartenring" city circuit in Bern with the racing cars of the time. Bern is still the only Formula 1 city in Switzerland today. The legendary GP history of Bern is set to continue in 2018.
The field of participants with the authentic and best vehicles of their time make Bern and the Grand Prix Suisse Berne Memorial a unique venue and the center of historic motorsport culture!
On the circuit
As at the last event in 2012, the race takes place on an eight-kilometer circuit that leads from Bern's Westside shopping center to Frauenkappelen and back.
The race will only take place on Sunday, August 26, 2018, and the individual fields will be able to spend a total of around one hour on the course, with a constant spectacle from 10:00 to 17:00. The individual groups will be led by a pace setter and guided around the circuit in a sporty manner. There are plenty of opportunities to watch the fast racing cars on the circuit.
Entries still possible
Many pre- and post-war classics have already been registered, including the Auto Union Type C, which is sure to be a highlight of the event. The provisional list of participants also includes a number of Bugatti, Maserati and Ferrari cars.
Registration is still possible. The entry fee is moderate at CHF 290 for cars and CHF 190 for motorcycles.
The vehicle inspection will take place on Saturday, and a trip to the city of Bern will be organized on the same day.
Further information can be found on the website of the Grand Prix Suisse Berne Memorial, where you can also register.
