In view of the cancellation of the three Goodwood events (Members Meeting, Festival of Speed, Revival) in 2020, the organizers developed a new event concept called "Goodwood Speedweek".
Suitable for Corona
The best elements of the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival are to be brought together and streamed for the whole world on October 16-18, 2020 at an event without spectators on site.
Fast laps with historic racing cars, rally competitions and the first Goodwood Gymkhana are planned.
In addition, the fastest cars in the world will each compete on one lap on Sunday to see which is the fastest modern sports car. According to the Duke of Richmond, there is a good chance that the 55-year-old lap record will be broken.
And since this "shootout" with modern cars will remain a one-off, the new lap record could last another 50 or more years. A very special story.
Bonhams auction on October 17, 2020
On the Saturday of the three-day event, Bonhams will auction off around 50 or even more cars on the occasion of Goodwood Speedweek. Already registered is a 1959 Aston Martin DB4 Series I, estimated at £ 250,000 to £ 350,000, which will be offered without a reserve price.
The auction itself will be held online as usual in the Corona year, a livestream will ensure that you as a bidder do not miss anything, the cars will be described as usual in the catalog and online and shown with many photos. On-site viewings will be possible.
It is nice to see that the Goodwood organization is not giving up and certainly the "Speedweek", even if it only lasts three days, will be a racing highlight of the Corona year 2020.
Further information can be found on the Goodwood and Bonhams websites.
