On Sunday, September 21, two classic car meetings will take place at the Sitterdorf adventure airfield: One is the "Fantastic Plastic" plastic car meeting for anything with a plastic body and four wheels (or three if it's a Reliant) and the other is Triumph Day.
Fantastic Plastic
The whole event arose from the need to organize a meeting just for GRP vehicles. The meeting organized a few years ago at the Verkehrshaus by zwischengas.com was no longer held, so something new had to be found. The initiators Marco Brühlmann from Anhänger-Brühlmann and Markus Tanner from Classic Car Connection AG are themselves owners of such special vehicles and have therefore decided to hold this event once a year from now on to give like-minded people the opportunity to get to know each other and exchange ideas.
After years of holding the meeting in Rickenbach (TG), it is now being held at a new location for the first time. The Sitterdorf airfield not only offers a great atmosphere, but also additional attractions such as a large children's playground, "the best food in Sitterdorf" and an animal park. While parents admire the BMW Z1, Lancia Stratos and Saab Sonett, children can look at fallow deer, dwarf goats and peacocks.
The event takes place on Sunday, September 21 from 10 am to 4 pm. Visitors with a non-plastic classic car are also welcome - a separate parking lot is available.
Triumph Day
Also from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., all Triumph automobiles and their derivatives such as Peerless, Devin, Warwick, Triumph Italia, Moss, Bond, etc. will meet at the same location in Sitterdorf. One hundred and more Triumph vehicles and cars from brands based on Triumph technology are expected.
Triumph cars were already being sold in Switzerland in the 1930s - some even with bodies specially made by Swiss coachbuilders. A considerable number of these vehicles have stood the test of time, thanks to their owners, caretakers and collectors.
Markus Tanner, the initiator of this annual event, acquired his first Triumph in 1987 and still owns it to this day.
