The Porsche Center Zurich has been named an official Classic Partner of Porsche AG, a distinction that only a few Porsche Centers worldwide receive. The Classic Center was officially opened on 17 March 2018, just in time for the Porsche brand's seventieth anniversary. It is located at Brandstrasse 34 in Schlieren.
"All-round support for all classic questions takes place here. From sales with a large classic vehicle exhibition to service, repair and restoration. Classic events will also be held here," says site manager Massimiliano Di Giusto.
The Classic Center also houses the reception area for the in-house bodywork and paint shop department as well as the motorsport support of AMAG First AG. This means that, apart from saddlery work, practically everything can be done in-house.
Lots of technical expertise
Technical expertise is also provided: Ruedi Brack, a classic car expert who has been highly regarded in the Porsche scene for many years, joins the team in Schlieren together with his son Marco.
Brack Autogarage has been involved with Porsche for decades, especially with the 356 series and early 911s. He is pleased to pass on his know-how to the next generation at the Porsche Center Zurich.
Since 1999, Brack's main focus has been on the Porsche brand, especially the 356 model series from 1948 to 1964, but the early 911s have also increasingly become a topic of interest. In addition to complete restorations, Ruedi Brack's strength lies primarily in the rebuilding of mechanical components such as engines, gearboxes, steering systems, chassis, etc.
In his career as a car and racing mechanic, Ruedi Brack has worked on around 250 Porsche 356 models. He has been bringing this expertise to the Porsche Center Zurich since October 2017 and is also transferring it to the mechanics at the Classic Center. This will ensure that all of Brack's experience will continue to benefit owners of Porsche Classic vehicles even after his well-deserved retirement.
Adriano Rossi, Managing Director of AMAG First AG and Managing Director of Porsche Zurich, is delighted: "I am very pleased that we have succeeded in convincing Ruedi Brack of our Classic concept and that he will be handing over his 'life's work' into capable hands."
Well-attended opening
The opening on March 17, 2018 attracted over 200 Porsche enthusiasts, who enjoyed being shown around the spacious rooms. Stefano Ginesi was happy to explain that the focus of the work is on Porsche models 356 to 996 and that they also like to deal with the four- and eight-cylinder models 924/944/968/928, which have now become classics.
In addition to maintenance work, complete restorations, motorsport preparations, conversions and cosmetic work can also be carried out in Schlieren. There are also plans to hold more events and functions to impart know-how or draw attention to interesting aspects of the Porsche Classic environment. Trading in classic vehicles is of course also part of the range of activities at the center in Schlieren, where they are also happy to trade in classics from other brands if a customer wants to buy a Porsche.
