Everything was in place and the Edelweiss Mountain Prize, i.e. the Rossfeld mountain race, would certainly have been a success with the public on September 25-27, 2020. But here, too, Covid-19 ruined the work of the enterprising organizers.
The now canceled event will now be rescheduled for 24 to 26 September 2021 (contrary to the biennial cycle).
Organizer Joachim Althammer explains:
"It is with a heavy heart that I have already come to a decision about the Edelweiss Mountain Prize 2020 and I know very well how much people are longing for normality and also for events in these difficult times. Due to our biennial rhythm, participants, spectators and helpers have been eagerly awaiting the 'Rossfeld Weekend' 2020 for a year now. However, it is also undisputed that health is the top priority at the moment and that all those responsible must take the best possible care of it.
The starting places have long since all been allocated, many tickets have been sold and all hotels and guesthouses in and around Berchtesgaden are fully booked. However, we cannot guarantee the safety and health of everyone involved to the same extent as before. In particular, distancing and hygiene regulations cannot be adhered to due to the special circumstances at the Edelweiss Mountain Prize, although it is precisely these special features that make our event so unique.
In order to provide planning security for all starters, visitors, helpers and partners and to avoid posing unsolvable problems for the catering and hotel industry, I have decided to postpone the event. The Edelweiss Mountain Prize 2020 will now take place from September 24 to 26, 2021. The program remains unchanged and the eagerly awaited start list will be published in the coming weeks.
Tickets that have already been purchased will of course remain valid and will also help us to survive the year financially. I would therefore like to thank all visitors who have not returned their tickets or who have already bought their tickets for 2021 this year.
Please stay well, healthy and confident - hopefully we'll see you all in September 2021!"
