The dozen is full: from August 21 to 23, 2014, 180 vintage and classic cars from 80 years of automobile construction will be starting the Sachsen Classic 2014 for the twelfth time. The rolling automobile museum will first criss-cross southern Saxony and make an extensive detour to the Czech Republic. New this year is the extended route through Saxony's neighboring states of Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt on the third day of the rally.
Over a total of 638 kilometers, the participants experience both the joy of riding and the sporting competition. During the three-day rally, spectators will once again have the opportunity to see, hear and smell exciting classic automobiles on the most beautiful roads and places in the automotive and cultural region of Saxony.
Extended route
"The route is beautiful again this year, extremely varied but also challenging. And for participants and spectators alike, there will once again be fascinating classic cars from many decades to see," explains Harald Koepke, Head of Classic Rally Organization at event organizer Motor Presse Stuttgart. Special highlights of the route will certainly include the Steep Wall of Meerane, the lap of the Sachsenring, the lunch break in Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad), the time control on the Fichtelberg and the drive through the cathedral square in Merseburg.

Some tips for visitors
The Sachsen Classic Rallye is freely accessible to spectators at the start and finish as well as along the route, including the visitor area at the Sachsenring. The classic vehicles take to the track at 30-second intervals, so the start lasts 90 minutes - enough time to appreciate all the vehicles. In addition to the start and finish, the lunch breaks are particularly recommended for visitors. All vehicles are parked here for an hour. This gives you the chance to inspect all the cars in detail and talk shop with the teams.
The times given always refer to the first vehicle. If you want to be sure to see all the vehicles, you should arrive at the respective locations a little earlier than the times stated.
