The Ferrari works team won Le Mans eight times, with the last victory coming in 1964, and the car that crossed the finish line first was a Ferrari 275 P (chassis number 0816). Jean Guichet and Nino Vaccarella were at the wheel. They covered 4695.3 km on their winning drive, at an average speed of 196.638 km/h.
But this was by no means the end of the Ferrari sports car's racing career. In America, it contested the Road Atlanta 500 three times and also competed in the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1965.
The prototype later became part of Pierre Bardaron's collection. The Frenchman had bought around 50 Ferrari works cars over the years, including four of the nine Le Mans winning cars. He built his own circuit in Mas du Clos so that he could also drive the cars.
Artcurial already set a world auction record in 2016 with a car from the Bardinon collection, when the 1957 Type 335 S was sold for EUR 32 million.
