It is September 12, 1995, and a very special name is represented at this year's IAA Frankfurt. One that has a great history as a car manufacturer and racing legend and whose founder became world-famous for lightweight construction and innovations such as the ground effect. We are, of course, talking about Lotus. New life is to be breathed into it in 1995.
Designed according to Chapman's principles, named after Artioli's granddaughter
The lifesaver was also to be based on Colin Chapman's principles - lightweight construction, great handling and innovative engineering. The Elise was born, presented at the IAA on September 12, 1995.
Incidentally, the Elise was named after Elisa Artioli, the granddaughter of Romano Artioli. She is one of the few living personalities after whom a car was named that is still available on the market. At the presentation in 1995, she hid in the car, which was covered with a cloth. When the cloth was removed, she was sitting in the car wearing a shirt that read "I am Elise". The rest is history.
So on September 12, 2020, the Elise celebrates its 25th birthday.
Incidentally, Elisa Artioli now runs a blog on the usual social media platforms called "Iamlotuselise" and successfully organizes events in the field of motorsport at an international level.
