The Pebble Beach Concours 2020 was due to take place on August 16, 2020, but what is probably the biggest beauty contest in the world has now had to be canceled. The plan for 2020 was to pay homage to the Porsche 917, early electric cars, Iso Rivolta, Talbot-Lago and Pininfarina, as well as other brands and events. It was not to be. The health of the participants, judges, volunteers and guests comes first.
Concours chairwoman Sandra Button is quoted as saying:
"My heart goes out to all the people involved in the Pebble Beach Concours who have been affected by this decision. Many of our competitors have been working on a special car for years and this should be their moment. Some of our overseas participants were about to put their cars on boats and planes, and their own travel arrangements have long since been made. The same is true for many of our international judging squad."
70th Concours on August 15, 2021
All eyes are now on the next Concours d'Elégance at Pebble Beach, which is scheduled to take place on August 15, 2021.
