Design legend Tony Hatter ended his career at Style Porsche in the fall of 2020 after 34 years. One of his favorite projects was the design of the last air-cooled Porsche 911 of the 993 generation.
After the great success of the 993 Carrera and several design awards, Tony and his team also designed the Porsche 993 Turbo. In 1995, he continued with the 911 GT1, which also won at Le Mans in 1998. Hatter also took over the design project management for the Porsche Carrera GT (Type 980) super sports car in 2003. Tony headed the Design Quality department until his departure.
Hand-signed Porsche 993 book edition
For fans of the last air-cooled nine-eleven, 119 "Porsche 993 - 25 Years" books are being published as a "Signature Edition". All books are personally signed by Tony Hatter. Each book is accompanied by his current 993 design sketch from 2020.
EUR 9993 from the proceeds of the "Signature Edition" will be donated to the fight against leukemia at this year's José Carreras fundraising gala. Tony and his wife Vlasta have been supporting this foundation for many years.
A small team created perhaps the most beautiful Porsche 911 ever
Nine-eleven enthusiasts Bernd Kahnau (project management) and Tony Hatter (design) worked with a small team on their vision for the last classic Porsche 911.
The result was one of the most beautiful and fascinating 911s that had ever existed. With the introduction of the 993, the production lines in Zuffenhausen were finally running at the limit again.
To mark the 25th anniversary of the Porsche 993, Tony Hatter and Bernd Kahnau provide in-depth insights into the development phase in detailed interviews for the first time.
Unpublished recordings from the Porsche archive
In addition to detailed purchase advice and price developments from 2015 to 2020, all special models, some of which are unknown even to experts, are also discussed in detail. Porsche has once again opened up its historical archive for this book project, which is why unpublished photographs from the development phase of the 993 can be shown, among other things.
A review of the "normal" edition of the Porsche 993 book appeared a good year ago on zwischengas.
The "Signature Edition", as described above, costs EUR 159.00 (incl. 16% VAT and plus shipping costs) and can be ordered directly from the publisher Berlin Motor Books.
