The Bonmont Golf Club in Chéserex in western Switzerland, near Geneva, offers the ideal atmosphere for auctioning top-class automobiles. Bonhams is inviting bidders to the Bonmont Auction for the third time and a diverse portfolio of 46 cars, a pedal car and a motorcycle will once again be up for grabs on June 20, 2021. Without an engine but in 1:1 scale, there will be a Benetton Formula 1 up for auction.
Relatively young offer
With an average age of less than 38 years, the range is relatively youthful. In fact, there are only two pre-war cars for sale at the golf club, both of which are Bugatti.
A Type 57C from 1939 and a Type 49 from 1933 will compete for the favor of the buyers.
The other end of the spectrum is larger, with almost a third of the offerings dating from 2000 or later.
Here you will find luxurious off-road vehicles such as a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 from 2014 or super and hyper sports cars such as a McLaren P1 from 2014.
For tennis fans
Anyone who is enthusiastic about the playing skills of Roger Federer or Martina Hingis should perhaps take a look at the Porsche 996 that Martina once received as a prize at a tournament in Stuttgart.
Because she didn't have a driver's license at the age of 17, the car was registered to her mother at the time. She might have enjoyed the red Tiptronic-996 more, who knows. Now they are asking CHF 35,000 to 45,000.
The 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series driven by Roger Federer, one of the most successful tennis players of all time, is expected to cost considerably more.
CHF 150,000 to 200,000 to be invested here.
Rich Aston selection
Two brands are represented with a particularly large number of cars in Bonmont: Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz each have ten cars at the start.
The Aston sports cars cover almost the entire spectrum of the last 70 years, with a DB Mark III Sports Saloon from 1958 and a Vanquish from 2001 coming under the hammer. In between, there are three coupés from the DB4-DB6 era, two DBSs and three V8s, two of which are Volante versions.
The estimated values range between CHF 50,000 (V8) and 500,000 (DB5) and eight of the Astons are being sold without a reserve price.
Broad Mercedes spectrum
The Mercedes range also covers various eras, with the 220 Cabriolet B from 1952 (CHF 80,000 to 120,000) and the 300 SL R107 from 1985 in red (CHF 30,000 to 40,000) certainly the most interesting from a classic car perspective.
Rare, because only around 500 were built, is the 190E 2.5-16 Evo II from 1990 on offer, which is expected to cost CHF 160,000 to 200,000.
The other Mercedes are all from the new millennium and are more attractive to those interested in neoclassics.
A Lusso with a "colorful" history
The Ferrari 250 GT Lusso from 1963 is a true super classic and also the flagship of the auction. As the 154th example of 350 cars built, it is not only one of the most beautiful Ferraris of all time, but is also extremely rare.
Chassis 5187 changed color several times in its life (from ivory to red, silver to brown) and was restored more than once. Now the certified coupé, equipped with its original engine, is to find a new garage for CHF 1.35 to 1.95 million.
Cheaper cars too
But you don't have to throw millions around to get a car (or Heidfeld's Harley) in Bonmont.
A Fiat 500 L from 1969 is already available for CHF 10,000 to 15,000, while a Bentley Mark IV from 1952 is on the lot list at CHF 50,000 to 70,000. And for CHF 60,000 to 80,000, you can become the owner of a Lamborghini Urraco P300 from 1976.
If you add another CHF 10,000, a 1982 Maserati Khamsin is also within reach.
All of these cars, like just over half of the cars, will go under the hammer without a minimum bid, so prices could be even lower. But if you don't bid, you can't win ...
Further information and many pictures of the individual vehicles can be found on the Bonhams website.
