At the Milano Autoclassica, Bonhams will be auctioning 54 cars, 7 motorcycles and some automobilia with a combined value of around EUR 9.5 million in Hall 7 on November 18, 2022. Each vehicle is expected to fetch around EUR 154,000.
A pretty Italian affair
80 percent of the vehicles on display are of Italian origin, so the famous brands Alfa Romeo (16 cars), Lancia (6), Ferrari (6), Fiat (5) and Lamborghini (3) are particularly well represented.
Brands from other countries are only represented in small numbers, with two BMWs, Jaguar and Porsche on offer.
Alfa Romeo from the fifties to the nineties
For Alfa fans, the auction is certainly worth a closer look.
On offer are three Sprint Coupés based on the Giulietta/Giulia, two 2600 Sprint Coupés, two Giulia Spider Veloce, a rare Giulia Sprint GTC, an equally rare GTA 1300 Junior and a super-elegant 1900C Coupé Touring from 1953.
For people with special interests, the Alfa Romeo Alfasud Sprint Trofeo from 1982 might be of interest.
After all, this is a car from the Bigazzi team, which won the European championship with Luigi Calamai in 1983.
Classic Lancia
Also of interest are the Lancia models on offer, which are not so much the brand's more frequently offered super classics, but less frequently seen vehicles such as an Aprilia from 1940 as a Berlina Lusso or an Augusta Berlina from 1934.
The Aprilia Cabriolet with bodywork by Carrozzeria Stabilimenti Farina from 1937 is also attractive.
However, these rare cars are unlikely to be bargains.
Many young people
With an average age of 43 years, the auction is probably slightly above average, despite four pre-war cars.
However, 15 vehicles, or a quarter of the range, are from the new millennium. These include the two most expensive cars in the auction, which are two Lamborghini Aventador from 2019 and 2022.
Lot 58 is also young, but nevertheless very interesting: the Sciàdipersia Coupé from Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera from 2017 was exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018, but has actually covered 11,500 km since then. The technical basis came from Maserati and the car was intended to be reminiscent of the famous Maserati 5000 GT, which was built for the Shah of Persia in the 1950s.
Some super classics
Of course, the super classics are not missing in Milan. Some have already been mentioned.
However, the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport Cabriolet from 1949 with classic Pinin-Farina lines should also be mentioned. The car was delivered new in Italy and is said to be in very original condition. EUR 450,000 to 550,000 is the estimate.
The Iso Grifo S Targa from 1969 is set to be somewhat more expensive. As one of only 13 Targa versions built at the factory, the car was delivered to Germany and has been completely restored but has remained almost unused ever since. EUR 650,000 to 750,000 has been set for this rarity.
Three Ferrari 208/308 GTBs
Three GTB models from the 208/308 generation came under the hammer in Milan.
The oldest of the three was converted into a racing car using Michelotto parts, while the others are being offered in road-going form. The estimated prices are between EUR 60,000 and 140,000
Power limousines
They were rivals back then, now they are again. Bonhams can offer both a BMW M3 E30 from 1988 and a Ford Sierra Cosworth.
They date from 1988 and 1987 and are classified as roughly the same price, just under the hundred thousand mark.
Both exude unbridled analog driving charm and are already considered super classics.
Some racing cars
There is a wide range of racing cars, be it former touring cars, cup cars or even a genuine Formula 3 racing car. The Huntsman Spyder Alfa Romeo from 1988 looks more exotic, as does the Lancia Delta Integrale in Martini livery.
The BMW 635 CSI Coupé according to Group A from 1986 could also be worth a second look, although it also costs EUR 200,000 to 240,000.
Further information and many pictures of the Bonhams auction can be found on the auction house's website.
