Bonhams will offer 84 vehicles at the Goodwood Members' Meeting in Chichester on April 13, 2025. On average, the cars are a good 62 years old and were valued at an average of £ 105,119.
23% of the cars are auctioned without a reserve price.
Lots of British cars
The Bentley brand appears ten times, Jaguar eight times, Aston Martin six times and Rolls-Royce five times. Only Ferrari (7 vehicles) and Porsche (6) as well as Mercedes-Benz are represented with similar frequency.
Bentley cars were also rated the highest on average, at least among the brands mentioned.
In fact, there are two early Bentleys at the top of the lot list in terms of value, namely a 3/8-litre Competition Special "The other Gun" from 1927 (£ 500,000 to 700,000) and an 8-liter "Le Mans" Tourer from 1932 (£ 500,000 to 600,000).
Lots of pre-war
With 21 vehicles, the pre-war era is represented to an above-average extent. On average, these cars are even slightly more expensive than the rest of the offer, and the proportion of "No Reserve" lots is also higher at 29%.
The oldest car is a Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Silver Ghost Roi des Belges Style Tourer from 1912, which is looking for a new owner for £ 200,000 to £ 300,000.
But there are also much cheaper options for investing in a pre-war car at Bonhams. An Austin Seven "Chummy" Tourer from 1922, for example, was valued at £10,000 to £15,000, while an MG J2 Sports from 1932 was estimated at £20,000 to £30,000.
Lots of exotic cars
Of course, Bonhams also offers blue-chip super classics from the range of an Austin-Healey, Ferrari 330 GTC, Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, Maserati Merak or Jaguar E-Type (four of them). But there are also cars that are rarely seen at auctions.
One example is a Ballot 2LS Three-Seater Skiff Tourer from 1922, which is expected to cost £300,000 to £350,000.
Another rarity is the HRG 1100 Sports from 1949, which is offered for a reasonable £ 29,000 to £ 35,000.
A 1966 Marcos 1600 GT with wooden chassis will go under the hammer as an LM coupé for £ 20,000 to £ 35,000.
And only a very small number of the MG ND Magnette from 1935 were built with the Wolseley six-cylinder engine, here £ 45,000 to 65,000 are in demand.
Bonhams is also offering a Messerschmitt KR 200 from 1961, a Singer Nine Le Mans from 1934 and a Frazer-Nash BMW 319 Roadster from 1935.
For those who are more into "everyday fare", the Renault 5 GT Turbo from 1990 might be the right choice.
And, also interesting are two Alfa Romeo Montreal from 1972 and 1975, because both have almost the same color, but will go under the hammer in very different condition, but only around £ 20'000 to 25'000 separately (estimated values).
